There are three ways we can replace your missing teeth:
- Dentures are a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues, they are moulded to the shape of your mouth and gums. They sit on an Acrylic (plastic) base or Cobalt Chrome (metal) base. These can replace single or multiple teeth or a whole jaw (arch). Dentures require special home care maintenance to ensure they remain clean and do not cause irritation to the mouth.
- Dental Bridges. At Azure Dental, we usually recommend Dental Implants as our preferred replacement of missing teeth. Sometimes this is not possible due to multiple factors : pre-existing medical conditions and availability of bone. Dental Bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of usually two or more crowns on either side of the gap — these two or more anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth. The false tooth/teeth in between can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials and are referred to as “pontics”. Dental bridges can supported by natural teeth.
- Dental Implants. A Dental Implant is a Titanium Post (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows us to mount a replacement tooth or teeth into that area. These Titanium posts can then be restored with a Crown or Bridge. An Implant retained Crown or Bridge doesn’t become loose like a denture can. Medisave can be used towards partial payment for the surgical procedure.
